The DOJ’s new Wire Act opinion has created a cloud of ambiguity in the US gambling industry. It reverses a previous 2011 opinion that limited the scope of the Wire Act to sports betting only. But, under the new interpretation, the 1961 federal law extends to all forms of online gambling.
